Just a Quick Post.....................

to say I don't have time to post. (But I have done 7 days in a row already so I am not giving up the challenge yet.)

I am a treasurer with Girl Guides and it is the Fall cookie (mint) campaign so I have spent most of the evening counting money.

Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow with some stitching.

The 'Old Man' is still tryng!

After a week of beautiful weather - temperatures in the high teens and low twenties (celsius) - this is what we woke up to again this morning!!!!! Is it ever going to end.

It rained all day yesterday and although the snow was in the forecast I was really hoping it would bypass us.

In order to appease my disappointment, I decided to become a Quilt Detective at Quilting is Murder - A Murder Mystery. I found out about it when I read the Sew Sisters Quilt Shop Blog.

I am an avid mystery reader and love quilts (I have a keen interest do do more quilting if only I there was more hours in the day) so I thought this would be a bit of fun. It is an 8-part mystery (1 chapter a week) and if you sign up as a Quilt Detective you have a chance to win prizes by finding all the weekly clues at the 'Killer Quilt Shops'. Right now I have found all the clues but 1 - as per the information I found on the Facebook Page there is a problem with it that they are currently trying to fix.

I haven't done much stitching this week so I have no progress or finish pictures to post. For the next month I going to concentrating on making a crest for a District Girl Guide camp we are having at the end of the month. I was sweet talked into doing it by a my former Guiding partner when I still had a Brownie Unit. I use to cross stitch crests for our camps back then. She loves the ones I did and thought it would be neat if I did another one. Below is a prototype of what I am stitching. It is done on 14ct Aida but I am stitching the actual ones on 13ct vinyl aida.
I found the Monkey pattern here. I used the monkey on the letter "T".

Day 10 - Crazy January Challenge 2011

Last nights start was "Joy to the World" by Little House Needleworks. I had to attend a Girl Guide meeting last night so I didn't have too much time to stitch. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I want to complete the rest of the 2010 Ornament of Month this year so for the next 5 days the remaining charts from this series will be my starts for this challenge. Today I am stitching on the "Red House in the Winter" and tomorrow I will be starting "The Merry Skater".

Vacationing, Volunteering and Redecorating leaves no time.................

for blogging.

I have been away from here so long I don't know where to start. At the beginning of October my DH and I spent a week out at the trailer preparing to close it up for the season. I managed to stitch a few Halloween and Christmas ornaments while we were away. I will try to get pictures of them posted by the end of the weekend.

Since coming back, I have been bussssssssssssssssssssssy with my volunteer positions in the Girls Guides of Canada. I don't have a unit anymore but at this time of the year, between Registration and Cookies, I am a hoppin'. No time for stitching, unfortunately :(.

We also have been doing a bit of redecorating. My husband just finished repainting the downstairs hallway, the LR, the DR, Den and Kitchen. He also installed new blinds in the LR (currently waiting for the new valances to be made) and we had the furniture reupholstered. We also put in an electric fireplace in our Den. We have a real fireplace in our LR but since we spent most of time in the Den the electric is a nice substitute.

I hoping that by the end of the weekend, my home will be back in order again and I will be able to find time to do some stitching. I think I am going through a bit of withdrawal right now.

Finally!!!!

I haven't checked in for a couple of weeks. I went to our District Winter Camp (Girl Guides) last weekend and it has taken me most of the week to recuperate. I know my mother would say I am getting too old for this but I really enjoy this kind of stuff and I am glad I went. Didn't get much stitching or knitting done last weekend or during the week but I more than made up for it this weekend.

I started another Pamela Kellogg Mystery SAL the "First Robin of Spring". Thank goodness I read Juggy Bug's Blog on Thursday or I don't know when I would have remember that I had signed up for this SAL. LOL The first part came on out last Saturday (while I was at camp) and the second part was released yesterday. Here is a progress pic of Part I:


I am also participating in another SAL at Needleworkers' Haven. These are Freebies available from Lune d'Automne designed by Gencat. We are doing 1 heart a month. Since I started a bit late I am doing a bit of catch up. I have finished March and Febuary and I am currently working on January. I am making these into magnets.



A few more stitches have been added to the "Mediterranean Terrace" and I hoping to have it finished by the end of the month. I also working on another mitten shaped ornament.

With my knitting, I am still working on the 2 scarves I started last month and another dishcloth. The Mystery KAL (from Whoduknit) seems to be on hold for the time being. The person supplying the clues to the pattern has been MIA for the past couple of weeks. We are starting a mini Mystery KAL on Monday. The book we are currently reading The Last Kashmiri Rose by Barbara Cleverly. I'm enjoying it so far. I found the the romance in last month's novel -Birthright (Nora Roberts)- overshadowed the mystery but otherwise it was a good read.

We started a RR at NH this month. It is attempt for 4 of us to have a tree skirt by Christmas this year. My is a Nutcracker skirt (surprise, surprise!!!!!!). Here are pics of what it will look like when finished and how much I have done on it.
