Spring's A-comin'

I thought I would post some updated pictures so you can see that spring does eventually come here. It is not the prettiest time of the year. The ground is still frozen and there is still a few patches of snow here and there. Hopefully we will be seeing leaves on the trees and green, green grass soon.

As I mentioned in my last post, I just love the colours in BBD's "Bluebird's Message". I love them so much I took every opportunity I could this week to stitch on this project. Below is a picture of my progress as of 15 minutes ago.

I am currently missing the colour for the branches - WDW Havana . I didn't have it in my stash and my LNS was out of stock. I did order it online and I hope to have it by next weekend. I am really looking forward to seeing this piece completed.

A week ago my mother told me that someone had donated some embroidery floss to her knitting grou and since the members had no use for it she asked if she could give it to me. She was given the okay and I picked it up on Tuesday. It is quite a nice haul. The bag contains a combination of both DMC and Anchor.

A couple of weeks ago I read this post. I thought it was such a neat idea to display my scissors in a flower frog and I went and bought this little gem from a seller on Esty.Link

I know I will be picking up some more of these since I discovered all the lovely little scissors sold on this site - Anita's Little Stitches. Since January I have already bought 4 and have a few others earmarked for future purchases.

Well, it has been a long day. Take care and happy stitching!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Sale, More Stash

Who can resist a sale especially when it is a Needlework sale? My favourite LNS Kathryn's Stitching Studio had 25% off of fabric, thread, charts/leaflets and beads this weekend. I resisted buying any more charts/leaflets but did buy 3 pieces (18" x 27") of fabric - 28ct Autumn Blush Lugana, 28ct Purple Jazlyn and 28ct white Lugana, Kreinik BF 002 (for a project), and 2 WDW threads - Love & Romance (just because they are the perfect colours for the month of February and also quite pretty). The DMC floss was purchased at Michaels.

I love the Purple Jazlyn (although it is looking more bluish on my screen). Purple is one of my favourite colours. I am not sure what I will stitch on it (any suggestions?????) but I couldn't resist purchasing it since it was on sale. I am very picky with over-dyed/hand-dyed fabrics. I don't like the ones with too much colour contrast but the subtle mottling of the Autumn Blush is beautiful. The salesclerk told me that I have to show her what I stitch on these fabrics and I looked at her and said "That may take a few years." She said she was careful not to put a time frame on the request as she is in the same boat.

Although I didn't make any chart/leaflet purchases today, I have made some recent purchases. First I purchased the Victoria Sampler Christmas Treasures Collection. It is something I thought I would like to stitch if either of my nieces or my nephew decided to get married and since my eldest niece got engaged 2 days before Christmas, I am now going to do it. I am just waiting for the Accessory pack to arrive in the mail. The wedding is planned for September of 2012 so I figure I have enough time to complete all the ornaments.

I am also anxiously waiting for the first of the 2011 LHN Christmas Ornaments "Cardinal Winter" to arrive in the mail. I signed up for the Automatic Shipment program (including fabric) at Down Sunshine Lane. I was informed a week ago Thursday that it was in the mail.

So much to stitch, so little time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Stitching!!!!!

Day 6 - Crazy January Challenge 2011

Six days down, 9 more to go. Today I stitched on the Believe Tree Ornament from M Designs. Ever since the first one "Peace" was published in the 2004 JCS Christmas Ornament Issue, I have stitched a number of these. Mainly because my neice, Meagan took quite a shine to them. I have even stitched one made with her name. I didn't to get around to stitching one for her in 2010 so I want to make sure I have one for this year. This is my progress so far:

I am using WDW Noel and stitching on a piece of Ivory 32ct linen I found in my stash that was the right size.

Thank you all for your wonderful and encouraging comments. I really appreciate them.
