Progress on 2 Mystery SALs

The holidays are over and today was the first day back at work. It is always busy the first few days back since I am the only one who does my job and I have a lot of catching up to do. Oh, well, I guess I need to work in order to support this hobby!

I worked on 2 mystery SALs this weekend.   The first is the Birds of A Feather Mystery SAL that I have been working on for the past few weeks.   I now have part 3 and started working on that section now.   I should have this finished in the next week or so!

The second I started on this weekend.  It is from Carol at iStitch.  I am using 28ct white evenweave and Valdani hand dyed Pearl Silk - colour S9 - Herb Garden - Muddy Monet Collection.

I love the way this one is looking. I can't wait until the next part comes out on Saturday.

Either later this evening or tomorrow, I will post pictures of the dishclothes I kinitted up in the past week.

The Dog Days of Summer

This is Zack, one of our neighbour's dogs.  He visits us a lot and often plops down for a nap in front of our trailer.  He is a real cutie pie!

We are still enjoying gorgeous weather during our holidays (high 20s C).  It did rain most of the day on Tuesday but we badly needed it.  The ground is so dry at the trailer, that it cracking everywhere.

I am making great progress on the Birds of a Feather Mystery SAL. I can't wait till it is finished.

I joined another Mystery SAL at iStitch.. I forgot to take some thread and fabric with me last Thursday, so I have yet to start it. Hopefully, I will have it done over the weekend. (The thread and fabric is already packed.) The next part comes out on August 27th so I need to have it done by then.

I also managed to stitch 4 more dishcloths and have 2 more in progress.   I don't have time to scan them now.  I will do so when we are home again on Sunday. (Holidays will be over :(. )

Stitching, Knitting and Reading on My Holidays!

We are spending our summer holidays out at the trailer so I have a lot of time for stitching, knitting and reading while enjoying the beautiful weather we are having this year.

I am currently working on the Birds of A Feather Mystery SAL. I would be a lot further along if Mr. Frog hadn't decided to visit 3 times this week.

I also knitted 3 dishcloths and have a 4th one in progress.  They are a little misshaped because I haven't had a chance to press them yet (I am only back home for few hours and I don't have any iron at the trailer).

'Old Man Winter' made one last attempt.....

and we woke up to this beautiful (not!!!) sight in our backyard last Saturday. Thankfully it melted away by the end of the day and hasn't returned.

There is a barbecue buried under that mound of snow on the left.

Now on to more pleasant topics. As I mentioned awhile back I decided to join the Spring/Easter Exchange hosted by Elaine of Lainey's Stitching Hoose. She has set up this blog - Stitched With Love Exchanges to display all the lovely packages everyone sent out. The following is what I received from Nataly.



Isn't the pin cushion she made just darling. The beads at the corners are shaped like the flowers in the design.


I am using the pail that originally contained the chocolate eggs, jelly beans as an ort collector.

I made a scissor case using a pattern by Marie-Anne Rethoret-Melin. I had the butterfly button in my stash and I found the butterfly scissors at Anita's Little Stitches.


Wednesday evening I put the final touches on the Bluebird's Message (Loose Feathers Pattern #23) by Blackbird Designs.

It is stitched with WDW floss and on 30ct French Vanilla by R & R Reproductions.

I decided that even though my neice is not getting married until September of 2012 that I had better get started on the Bride's Tree Ornaments in order to have them done in time. This is my progress so far.


I have started the box top first. (I haven't decided yet whether or not to purchase the wooden box used in the leaflet or to use a decorative cardboard box I already have in my possession.)


I am currently collecting the Bride's Tree Ornaments form Brooke's Books Publishing. I have 3 out of the 4 currently available. I figure I shoud be prepared if my other neice gets married.

On a final note I thought I would mention that I have decided to take on another Mystery SAL. It is called Birds of A Feather by With Thy Needle & Thread designs by Brenda Gervais. It starts in May and I can't wait. It looks very intriquing.

While I was away this week I managed to finish another Dishcloth . I had access to free internet at the hotel so I was able to keep with the daily release of rows.

Until then, I am going to put the KK Mystery SAL aside and concentrate on working on the TW Peacock Tapestry and the PK Garden Fantasy Mystery SAL.

TUSAL Check-In

Well another New Moon has arrived and it is time to check in for the Totally Useless SAL. (If you don't know what this is, click on the button on side for more information).



As you can see my jar is getting quite full. (I have pushed it all down once already.) I am collecting everything and anything. I currently working on the Kustom Krafts Mystery SAL so all the red and orange orts at the top are from that.

Here is my progress to date on the KK Mystery SAL. I am running a bit behind. I should be finishing up on page 6 by now but I just finished page 3 today. I took a sneak peek at the pictures in the group so I have pretty good idea what the final picture will be but I won't say anything yet and let you keep on guessing.

Good Weekend for Stitching

I had a fantastic long weekend. On Good Friday while my DH watched all six Star War Movies on the Space Channel I worked on 3 Mystery SALs.

On Saturday, in between cleaning the house, I stitched this one up for the Spring SAL at NH.

After Easter dinner yesterday I started working on the piece I am doing for the Spring Exchange at NH. (Sorry no pictures.) I have continued working on it this evening and should have it finished by tomorrow.

Also, I managed to enter a few more charts into The Stash Can the weekend. Gosh, I need more hours in the day. I have so many charts that I still want to stitch. I came across a couple of Castle charts - Heidelberg, Neuschwanstein - that I would love to stitch for myself since I have visited both. I also have the Hearts of Canada Series (except for Nunavet which I will be purchasing ASAP) that I have started (Manitoba and Canada - International Hearts) and would like to eventually put together in a wall hanging. Oh well, I guess I just have to go at it one chart at a time.

I Did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told you I was weak. I signed up for the Papillon Creations Mystery SAL yesterday. I paid for both versions (it was cheap enough, I couldn't stand the thought of not having both) but I will definately be doing it with the specialty stitches. I am not sure what fabric I will be using - I will have to purchase something but I have decided to convert the DMC to silk threads. I checked out the site for VC silks and saw that they were offering a conversion but I since I have quite a collection of RG Splendor threads in my stash, I think that is what I will be using. I was perusing their conversion and colour charts a bit yesterday to decide on colours.

HOWEVER, I will not start this project until I finish one of my current projects.

I almost finished CWC's Winter Feeder. I just have a little bit of backstitching, a few french knots to make and some beads and charms to add. It should done before the end of this week.

I finished the ormanent I made for the NH SS exchange. It will probably won't be until December before I will post a picture. I don't want anybody to see it before my SS partner sees it.

Stitching, Knitting, Reading and A New Mystery SAL

Well the 1st two days of my Stitching Schedule went well but on Wednesday I had a meeting and on Thursday and Friday I decided to finish up my piece for the Green Theme SAL (see previous post). I had to work on Saturday and went to the ballet in the evening (Romeo and Juliet) so I was only able to get some stitching done today. Below is a slideshow of my current WIPs. I resurrected a former PK Mystery SAL from 2005 - Glad Shamrocks - and am hoping to work on that one Friday evenings. I am also working on another Christmas ornament but it is for a Secret Santa Exchange so I won't say anymore about it.

Last year I joined the Whoduknit Yahoo! Group . This is a group for knitters who enjoy reading Mystery novels. Each month we are to read a suggested book and to create a knitted project based on one the characters or whatever strikes our fancy. To date I have only managed to read some of the books but never could come with anything to knit. However, this month we are currently reading Winter Study by Nevada Barr. When I saw that there was wolves in the story I decided to look for a pattern for a wolf. I found one here. I finished knitting the head up today and this is the result.Right now, he kind of looks like a mouse but I am hoping that by the time I attached the ears & body it will be more wolf-looking.

This morning I received a link to the current newsletter from Papillon Creations . She is starting a new Mystery SAL next week. (I must resist, I must resist, I must resist!!!!!!!!LOL )
I save all the parts from last year's SAL (How Does Your Garden Grow?) which I thought was quite pretty but never got around to starting it. This new one is called "Castles in the Air" and will cost £1 (about $1.40 US/$1.80 CDN) to join. It will be in 24 parts released monthly. I love Mystery SALs and will probably join in. Now I just have to find the time to actually stitch it.

Mystery SALs

As you make well be aware I love SALs especially Mystery SAL. I have been a big FAN of Pamela Kellogg's Mystery SAL and so when she decided to design another Mystery I just couldn't resist. It is called the Garden Fantasy Mystery SAL and you can find information about it here. I know I need another WIP like I need a hole in the head. But what can I say, I'm weak.

This is part 4 (April) of the Oakhaven Designs - Tonia Pappan 2008 SAL:

I am starting another Mystery SAL today. This one is offered through the Kustom Krafts Yahoo! Group. Dyan goofed this morning and sent out all the parts at once but since we don`t have a picture we won`t know what we are stitching until we get into it a bit more. I love Mystery SALs and I am really looking forward to stitching this one.

My plan is too complete one UFO this month and to stitch at least 3 Christmas ornaments. The Winter Ornament above will be one of them and the UFO will be another. I think the third one will be one of the companion ornaments for the `Twas the Night Before Christmas`. I am also taking in another Theme SAL at NH. The theme this month is Love. The pattern I have chosen is part a calender series I received with my purchase of `The World of Cross Stitching` magazine (UK) a couple of years ago. It is called `Dove Chart` by Jenny Barton.
