Another Sale, More Stash

Who can resist a sale especially when it is a Needlework sale? My favourite LNS Kathryn's Stitching Studio had 25% off of fabric, thread, charts/leaflets and beads this weekend. I resisted buying any more charts/leaflets but did buy 3 pieces (18" x 27") of fabric - 28ct Autumn Blush Lugana, 28ct Purple Jazlyn and 28ct white Lugana, Kreinik BF 002 (for a project), and 2 WDW threads - Love & Romance (just because they are the perfect colours for the month of February and also quite pretty). The DMC floss was purchased at Michaels.

I love the Purple Jazlyn (although it is looking more bluish on my screen). Purple is one of my favourite colours. I am not sure what I will stitch on it (any suggestions?????) but I couldn't resist purchasing it since it was on sale. I am very picky with over-dyed/hand-dyed fabrics. I don't like the ones with too much colour contrast but the subtle mottling of the Autumn Blush is beautiful. The salesclerk told me that I have to show her what I stitch on these fabrics and I looked at her and said "That may take a few years." She said she was careful not to put a time frame on the request as she is in the same boat.

Although I didn't make any chart/leaflet purchases today, I have made some recent purchases. First I purchased the Victoria Sampler Christmas Treasures Collection. It is something I thought I would like to stitch if either of my nieces or my nephew decided to get married and since my eldest niece got engaged 2 days before Christmas, I am now going to do it. I am just waiting for the Accessory pack to arrive in the mail. The wedding is planned for September of 2012 so I figure I have enough time to complete all the ornaments.

I am also anxiously waiting for the first of the 2011 LHN Christmas Ornaments "Cardinal Winter" to arrive in the mail. I signed up for the Automatic Shipment program (including fabric) at Down Sunshine Lane. I was informed a week ago Thursday that it was in the mail.

So much to stitch, so little time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Stitching!!!!!

Stash Shopping Today!!!!!!!

Visited my favourite LNS today - Kathryn's Stitching Studio. I didn't really need anything but as we all know "Need has nothing to do with it".

After several minutes browsing I picked up the following:

Several Mill Hill buttons that were being cleared out at 50% off.
Mill Hill Winter Greetings Charmed Ornaments - Naughty (I couldn't resist that reindeer.)
2008 Santa Ornament "Santa Please Bring Me.." designed by Sandra Sullivan (This one is for me, of course.)
1/2 yard 36ct Flax Edinborough Linen (I decided to start on the "Castles in the Air" Mystery SAL by Papillion Creations using the 36ct Linen and Eterna Silks)

Happy Stitching!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Weekend for Stitching

I had a fantastic long weekend. On Good Friday while my DH watched all six Star War Movies on the Space Channel I worked on 3 Mystery SALs.

On Saturday, in between cleaning the house, I stitched this one up for the Spring SAL at NH.

2008 Easter Dragonlet © 2008 Dragon Dreams Inc.

After Easter dinner yesterday I started working on the piece I am doing for the Spring Exchange at NH. (Sorry no pictures.) I have continued working on it this evening and should have it finished by tomorrow.

Also, I managed to enter a few more charts into The Stash Can the weekend. Gosh, I need more hours in the day. I have so many charts that I still want to stitch. I came across a couple of Castle charts - Heidelberg, Neuschwanstein - that I would love to stitch for myself since I have visited both. I also have the Hearts of Canada Series (except for Nunavet which I will be purchasing ASAP) that I have started (Manitoba and Canada - International Hearts) and would like to eventually put together in a wall hanging. Oh well, I guess I just have to go at it one chart at a time.

Happy stitching!

Did some Stash Shopping Today

We are experiencing extreme wind chill conditions again (currently -43). But I went out anyways to do some stash shopping. Michaels has a sale on floss and yarn this week.

I bought some DMC floss for a Birthday Floss Exchange I am participating in. I gave my DH 4 envelopes to mail earlier this week for the Exchange. They needed stamps (which I am sure I mentioned to him) but he mailed them without stamps. (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhh!!!) I know they will be eventually returned to me but I was already late mailing them out so I bought replacement floss so that I can mail them out again ASAP.

I also bought several balls of yarn that was on sale.

1) Bernat Soft Boucle - Earth Shades

I am planning to use it to knit a Long Cardigan.

2) Bernat Softee Chunky - Grey Ragg

I am planning to knit the Shaker Rib Sweater with it.

3) Patons Classic Wool Merino - Denim Marl

I have a felting project in mind for this - Knitting Basket

I have never felted before but I find the idea intriquing.

I going yarn crazy right now. I recently purchased some Bernat Handicrafter Cotton (for dishcloths), Berroca Ultra Alpaca Light, Berroca Ultra Alpaca on Ebay. The Ultra Alpaca Light is for a interesting tote bag pattern I found online - Intricate Stag Bag. The Ultra Alpaca was purchased by mistake (I failed to notice that it wasn`t 'Light'). But I found a pattern for another bag the I can use it for - Brea Bag. I couldn't find any Ultra Alpaca Light - Fennel used in the Intricate Stag Bag so I decided to order Winter White from Herrschners Yarn Shoppe. I think it will work well with the Chocolate Brown.

I started the KAL at Whoduknit on Friday. I am really curious what it will be. The pattern calls for 500 yards of sport weight yarn and the initial cast-on was only 7 stitches. After 4 rows it looks like it will something very long and narrow with that amount of yarn.

I also picked the book - Birthright (Nora Roberts) - at the Library on Thursday and started reading it right away. So far I am enjoying it.

Finished the February 7th Bookmark KAL this evening:

I used DMC Pearl Cotton #5 -321 for it.

I also finished the February 1st Dishcloth KAL earlier this week. I havn't taken a picture of it yet but I will do so in the morning.

Cross stitching wise I concentrated on the 'Back on the Road Again' Mystery SAL this week. I have finished Part 2 today and have started on Part 3. Part 4 was released on Wednesday so I am running a bit behind. I also started another ornament today. It is one of the mittens from this site - Mittens. I am doing the first one on page 6. I am doing it on perforated paper.

Well that's it for now. Take care!!!
