What's a girl to do when it's...............

currently -30C (-41C with the windchill) outsideShiver. Curl up with a cozy mystery or watch the 2014 Winter Olympics and catch up with a little cross-stitching.

I am doing a little bit of everything this weekend. This weekend I am currently reading Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich and a new to me series by Livia J. Washburn - A Peach of a Murder (Fresh Baked Mystery) and this past week I have been listening to audiobooks by another new to me author - Julia Spencer-Fleming - Rev. Claire Fergusson & Russ Van Alstyne Mysteries.   I am currently on book 5.

While cheering on Canada Canadian Flag and admiring all of the amazing athletes from around the world, I have been stitching away on the following.

Forget-Me-Not © With thy Needle and Thread

This is WIP from last year.   When I picked it up last weekend this is how much I had stitched.

and this is where I am as of last night.

I am hoping to have it finished it by next weekend.

Beary Merry Christmas (Dimensions Kit)

The 2nd bear is almost done.   I should be able to show a progress pic of the 3rd bear next weekend.

Saltbox Village © 2012 Little House Needleworks

I just finished stitching this one this AM.   This will be my 10th finished Christmas ornament.  Not bad since it is only the beginning of February and Christmas is still 10 months away.

My next ornament will be Peace © The Stitcherhood  from  the 2013 JCS Christmas Ornament issue.

Now to get back to my stitching and to watch the rest of the Team Ice Dance Free Skate.  Wow!!!

Take care and happy stitching!!!!!

Thank you for visiting!!!!!

Finally a Long Weekend and Time to Stitch

We had a 3-day weekend so we spent it out at our trailer. I love it out there. No phones (even cellphones), no TV (except for playing DVDs in the evening) and very little housework so I have lots of time to stitch and read.

Now that the postal strike/lockout is over, I finally received the 1st installment of the With Thy Needle and Thread "Birds of A Feather" Mystery Sampler. It arrived (along with the fabric and threads) on Thursday - just in time. This is my progress as of yesterday.

Three weeks ago I finally started the first chart I ever purchased by LHN - Home of a Needleworker. I have been wanting to stitch this for ages but for some reason I never got around to it until now. The following is my progress as of yesterday also. I am stitching it on 36ct Flax Edinburgh Linen with a combination of GAST and WDW threads. I just ordered Home of a Needleworker Too yesterday. I thinking of putting one up in my house and the other up in the trailer.

Well that is it for now. I want to get some stitching done before hitting the sack.

Happy Stitching!!!!

'Old Man Winter' made one last attempt.....

and we woke up to this beautiful (not!!!) sight in our backyard last Saturday. Thankfully it melted away by the end of the day and hasn't returned.

There is a barbecue buried under that mound of snow on the left.

Now on to more pleasant topics. As I mentioned awhile back I decided to join the Spring/Easter Exchange hosted by Elaine of Lainey's Stitching Hoose. She has set up this blog - Stitched With Love Exchanges to display all the lovely packages everyone sent out. The following is what I received from Nataly.

Isn't the pin cushion she made just darling. The beads at the corners are shaped like the flowers in the design.

I am using the pail that originally contained the chocolate eggs, jelly beans as an ort collector.

This is what I sent Nataly.

I made a scissor case using a pattern by Marie-Anne Rethoret-Melin. I had the butterfly button in my stash and I found the butterfly scissors at Anita's Little Stitches.

Wednesday evening I put the final touches on the Bluebird's Message (Loose Feathers Pattern #23) by Blackbird Designs.

It is stitched with WDW floss and on 30ct French Vanilla by R & R Reproductions.

I decided that even though my neice is not getting married until September of 2012 that I had better get started on the Bride's Tree Ornaments in order to have them done in time. This is my progress so far.

I have started the box top first. (I haven't decided yet whether or not to purchase the wooden box used in the leaflet or to use a decorative cardboard box I already have in my possession.)

I am currently collecting the Bride's Tree Ornaments form Brooke's Books Publishing. I have 3 out of the 4 currently available. I figure I shoud be prepared if my other neice gets married.

On a final note I thought I would mention that I have decided to take on another Mystery SAL. It is called Birds of A Feather by With Thy Needle & Thread designs by Brenda Gervais. It starts in May and I can't wait. It looks very intriquing.

Take care and have a good Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
